The most efficient self-emptying robot vacuum has an underlying container that can hold one month's worth of debris and empties automatically. It also creates a detailed map of your home which allows you to label rooms and create "no-go" zones.
It has superior obstacle avoidance abilities, too, so it can stay clear of power cords and rogue socks.
iRobot Roomba s9+
This robot is among iRobot's premium models and it certainly performs well. It maneuvers easily across a variety of surfaces and is very effective at taking in dust, dirt, and debris. It's also well-built and looks fantastic too.
The S9 is the latest model from iRobot's premium S Series robot vacuum. It has a few additional features that help it stand out from other models. For example the iRobot app can use the camera on this unit to create a map of your house, which helps it navigate and clean effectively.
There's no need to clean the same spots again if the battery runs out. You can also start cleaning sessions and stop them with the use of a simple voice command via the iRobot app. This smart vacuum will even clean in the dark!
Carpet Boost is another great feature. It provides the S9 more suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting so that it will be able to pick up more dirt. The S9 has an elongated front design, which allows it to be closer to walls and corners than older round designs. vacuum and mop combo doesn't work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.
In our tests we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of floor surfaces, from medium-pile to hard carpets and rugs. It also performed well on tiles, vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It also did a great job of maneuvering around objects and furniture, however it had some issues with stairs, and could accidentally hit things like bookcases.
The S9's capability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin once it is full was a fantastic feature. It reduced the need for manual maintenance. The dust bin will last for about 30 loads or a month and a half. You'll need to replace the filter every few months (as recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation, so it's a good option for those living with kids or pets.
Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Robot vacuum cleaners are made to take care of the dirty work for you, and can be used to remove carpets and hardwood floors. Certain robot vacuum cleaners can be controlled using an app on your smartphone, while others have mopping technology for kitchen and bathroom flooring. They're a great choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. If you're looking for the most advanced technology in your robotic vacuum cleaner then you'll need to pay a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one mopping and vacuum machine which makes it a great option for those living in a home with multiple floors. The vacuum's 0.6l bin can hold plenty of pet hair. Its dual motors provide impressive cleaning power. The dustbin can be taken away and emptied with ease, which is useful since you'll have to do it often.
It's also easy to set it up, but I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the very first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done that the app will assist you create a precise map of your home. You can label rooms, divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and guide the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at the time of. Eufy's app is more intuitive and precise than other robots with similar mapping and scanning functions.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can control the mop or vacuum cleaner by voice thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It was a success in our test house.
Like many robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with bare floors. It can miss pet fur and small objects and can cause bumps to objects, such as its charger on the charging platform. It's also not as quiet and the whirring sound can be distracting as other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
This robot doesn't have as many features as the more expensive ones we tested, however it does provide the essentials. It has a large enough dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before it's empty, and its mop and vacuum system works great on both carpets that are hard and low-pile. It is also very quiet. We could watch TV while it cleaned without feeling like we were bombarded with noise.
Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to install and use, and were impressed by its capacity to take all the messes off their floors. It also did a excellent job of removing pet hair and messes on carpeting, though it was less successful in removing stubborn staining. The users found the app to be user-friendly and intuitive, and were able to program the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to help reduce how much they had to do manually. It doesn't feature the ability to avoid objects or map technology, which means it cannot be able to be directed to specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries are compatible).
The V3S Pro is another model that is part of iRobot's affordable line. It has many impressive features at an affordable price. It was the top robot vacuum in our tests to avoid obstacles and map them. It's also the best budget choice for those looking for an intelligent, self-emptying robotic vacuum that can take care of hair and pet messes on hardwood floors and carpets with low pile. It is also very quiet and has a huge dust bin that can hold plenty of debris before it has to be empty.

The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choices lists from reliable sources that perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated how easy it was to setup and use, but they also noted that the battery life was limited and it wasn't able to avoid some of the most difficult problems we've encountered.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum cleaner that provides a wide range of features at a fair cost. You can get many of the premium features, including smart navigation and mapping without spending a fortune. You can use voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, and also to start your cleaning routine while you're away.
Roborock spent a lot of time developing this innovative cleaner. It is extremely well-constructed and feels like high-end materials were used in the making of it. Its base is strong and sturdy, with an integrated charging port for the battery. You'll find the docking station for the clean-water tank as well as the bins for dirty water on top. You'll also find a wall beneath the dock, which houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.
After you have connected your device to the app, you'll be able to see a 3D and 2D map of your home that shows you where your robot is located at any time and the specific area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep the robot out of certain areas, and make sure that it's only cleaning specific types of floors. It's also able of adjusting its power settings based on the kind of floor being cleaned, and selecting the most efficient method of cleaning.
Unlike many other robot vacuums that are available, the Q Revo is able to lift up both of its mop heads while vacuuming to avoid staining your carpet fibres. It's one of the few vacuums that can accomplish this.
The Q Revo's suction force of 5500Pa is sufficient to get rid of pet hair and dust specks when mopping. The all-rubber brush works well to separate animal and human hair as it adapts to uneven surfaces.
The only drawback to this device is that it takes an extended time to empty and fill both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, you can decrease the frequency of this by utilizing the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the container after a couple of days. You'll still have to check the level of water in the dock manually, however, since there's not an automatic reminder.
