This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on carpets with low piles and hard floors. Its combination brush reaches the edges and corners, and automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in carpets that are mid-pile. The IQ has a small footprint and also a self-emptying function. However, if you want to change floor levels on the map or set no-go zones you'll have manually reset it to do this, which can be a bit of an inconvenience.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, however it isn't equipped with no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet mode is clean well, but it is prone to get caught up in rug tassels, and its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to eliminate the majority of hair on floors that were not bare and a good amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a bit slower on floors that were not paved, but it regained speed and performed more thoroughly than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a more suitable option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan and is better in navigating around obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that can clean up sticky messes. The iRobot is, on the other hand feels better built, has fewer components that need maintenance or replacement and incurs fewer cost per year, and can create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It can even restart cleaning from the point it started if it has run out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available but it does provide excellent cleaning power at a low price. It's designed for budget-conscious buyers who don't require a complex mapping system or an app to control the device. Another fantastic feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the type of floor and the level of the mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S to where you want it to move.
