Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle, start the motor, and even locate it using the smartphone app.
First, put the fob of the key on an even surface, with the logo side facing upward. Find the button to let it go. Place a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.
Locking the Doors
Volvo's remote keys can unlock the doors, tailgate, and the fuel filler flap of your car with the touch of a button. Remote key fobs can also switch on the ignition and activate the alarm. They can even operate the sunroof, if it is equipped. With these options you'll never need to look for your keys or even lock yourself out of your car again.
You may not be aware of key fob features that are not visible. One of them is an unlocked/lock button that you can press in the event the battery on your key fob goes out.
To press the manual lock/unlock switch to unlock your key fob, place it with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button that is located near the edges of the key fob's body and press it gently to open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be turned counterclockwise with a flathead or coin.
Beginning the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs provide an ease of use and convenience that is not available with manual keys. A key fob, just like any other battery-operated device, can lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob has become less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace its battery.
You can enable this feature using the key fob if your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The car will be heated or cooled to the exact temperature it was set to when it was parked, and it can run for up to 15 minutes.
Remove the back cover of the key fob with your fingernail. Under the cover, on a diagonal near the edge of the body, there is a button. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will fall loose and slide off, revealing the manual key blade! If you're still having trouble finding the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access to determine whether there is a hidden slot or lever.
Close the Windows
One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you can lower all windows immediately when you use them. This is a great feature when you are trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.
Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, should you have one. Once you're done with the car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car using the key fob. This will make a loud noise that will draw attention and deter thieves. It will also assist you return to your home in a safe manner in the event that you've been away all night. This feature is useful for those who live in a hazardous area or want to protect your family members when they are away.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has packed its key fobs with variety of useful features. They are great if you're slammed with groceries or helping kids pack their sports equipment after a workout.
If you have the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) then you can open it with the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it by pressing the same button.
When you're ready to start your car then use the key fob to push the START button (and don't fret about your battery going out or your car not starting because it has a backup key mechanical slot too). This is just one of the many tips that will benefit your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs offer a great deal of convenience over a standard mechanical car key. However, they're not able to work in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually fail. If you're in a hurry or do not want to visit an establishment to get your key fob programmed, you can attempt to achieve it at home.
Lay out your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up and then locate a tiny black button on the bottom left of the fob. Slide it downwards and to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade that is mechanical underneath.
You can open all the doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice. By pressing volvo digger key for 2 seconds, you can close the windows and the sunroof when they're fitted. Connect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, then the owner's manual should have a way to reset the system.
