Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.
Place the fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that releases it, then wedge a coin between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.
Locking the Doors
Volvo's remote keyfobs allow you to unlock your vehicle's tailgate, doors and flaps for filling with fuel with the press of a button. Take off the back cover of the key fob by using your fingernail. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. You can remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will then fall free and slide away to reveal the manual key blade! If you're unable to locate the button, check the now-uncovered manual key access to find a lever or slot.

Closing the Windows
Volvo key fobs have a hidden feature that allows you to instantly open all windows. This is useful in situations where you need to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just need some fresh air while driving.
Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, if you have one. Once you're finished with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car with the key fob. It will emit a loud noise that will draw attention and deter thieves. It also helps you return home safely in the event that you've been away all night. This feature is useful when you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or you want to safeguard your family members when they are away.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob is stuffed with a variety of useful features. These are perfect when you're working on shopping or helping your kids load up their sports gear after practice.
For example, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped), you can open it using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it by pressing the same button.

Turning off the Alarm

Set out your key fobs batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button located at the bottom left corner of the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade that is mechanical beneath.
You can unlock all doors as well as the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. The lock button also closes the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should contain a procedure to reset the system.
